Cellulite

Cellulite (cellulite) - changes in the structure of the subcutaneous fat layer, the result of which is a violation of microcirculation and lymphatic outflow. They are characterized by stagnation in adipose tissue, which leads to its degeneration.

Most often, the following factors become the cause of cellulite: imbalance in the hormonal system of the body, poor blood circulation, excitement and stress, bad habits, poor-quality fatty food, low-quality cosmetics.

Many doctors do not consider cellulite to be a disease; medical specialists use "gynoid lipodystrophy" instead of the term "cellulite". In addition, in medicine, there is the term cellulitis, which is used to denote a purulent inflammation of the subcutaneous tissue.

It is not surprising that such obvious disagreements among doctors, supported by a considerable number of rumors, sometimes not corresponding to reality, have generated a considerable number of misconceptions and myths about cellulite. We will try to separate truth from fiction.

Cellulite occurs only in overweight women. This is not entirely true. Indeed, in obese women, cellulite is more pronounced and becomes more noticeable with age than in thin women. At the same time, some slender women may have cellulite, and some bbw women often have fine, firm skin. The appearance of cellulite can most often provoke sharp fluctuations in weight (got fat - lost weight), most often occurring in those women who, in pursuit of an ideal figure, constantly "go on a diet."

Cellulite can appear only after 30 years, it does not threaten young people. In fact, almost every representative of the fairer sex from the age of 18 already has the phenomenon of cellulite to a greater or lesser extent. Due to the good skin tone, its manifestations are not so noticeable in youth. However, with age, the skin loses its elasticity and - here it is, cellulite, in all its glory. This process depends on a genetic predisposition and can occur at different rates (for some, cellulite will appear at the age of 20, for some by 30, and for some only after 40).

Some women are relieved of this problem - for example, Asian women do not have cellulite. Cellulite at an early stage is not a disease, but rather a physiological norm due to the structure of subcutaneous adipose tissue characteristic of women. The fact is that the connective tissue septa dividing adipose tissue into lobules are located almost perpendicular to the skin surface. Therefore, with an increase in the volume of fat cells, the relief of the skin changes: dimples and tubercles appear. This effect is typical for women of any race, but among representatives of some nationalities (especially among Asians) it is less noticeable due to constitutional features (asthenic body type), food culture (seafood, a large amount of vegetables, fruits, green tea and other foods that strengthen connective fibers of fabrics). And the dark skin color contributes to the fact that cellulite in some women is almost invisible to an outside observer.

The predisposition to cellulite is not inherited. Unfortunately, this is not the case - one of the main reasons for the appearance of cellulite is precisely a genetic predisposition.

Taking oral contraceptives can help get rid of cellulite. Completely erroneous opinion. It is the use of oral contraceptives that contributes to a more pronounced manifestation of cellulite. The fact is that these drugs increase the level of esterogens, which relax the muscles of the blood vessels. As a result, vascular permeability increases, and, consequently, the exit of fluid into the interstitial space. In addition, estrogens promote water retention in tissues and reduce the utilization of fat in the body.

If you do not drink a lot of water, there will be no cellulite. This is a completely wrong opinion. The fact is that the distribution of fluid in the body plays a huge role in the development of cellulite. In the human body, there is an intense exchange of fluid between blood vessels and tissues. If microcirculation is disturbed, stagnation begins, contributing to the appearance of cellulite. In addition, water provides conditions for the normal functioning of the body, removes toxins and other harmful substances. It is the lack of water that can be one of the causes of cellulite.

Pilling and body wraps do not help get rid of cellulite. This is not true. Wraps (especially in combination with massage, hardware methods of cellulite treatment, such as ultrasound, LPG-endermology, pressotherapy, electrolipolysis) give a good result. It should be remembered that the most effective wraps based on brown seaweed.
Peeling is used for pre-treatment of the skin (cleansing pores, removing horny scales). You can use coffee grounds (for thin, sensitive skin), sea salt (for normal skin). It should be remembered that peeling is not recommended more than twice a week.

By completely eliminating carbohydrates from the diet, you can get rid of cellulite. Diet is really very important, however, in order to get rid of cellulite, it is not enough just to eliminate certain foods from the diet. It is best to give preference to a balanced diet with the obligatory use of raw vegetables, herbs, legumes, fruits, wholemeal bread, cereals, fish, seafood, and vegetable oil. It should be remembered that the formation of cellulite is promoted by the use of fried foods (especially fatty fried meat), poultry with skin, sausages and smoked meats, pickles and marinades, muffins, confectionery, fatty dairy products. Substitutes for certain products, food additives (dyes, flavors and taste imitators) can also provoke the appearance of cellulite.

Bad habits do not affect the appearance of cellulite. For example, smoking contributes to the formation of cellulite. After all, nicotine destroys vitamin C, which maintains the normal condition of the skin and connective tissues. In addition, it causes a spasm of capillaries, which leads to a violation of microcirculation, a deterioration of metabolism at the cellular level and fluid retention in tissues.

You can refuse the instructions of a dermatologist, prescribing to treat cellulite - it's not a disease. It should be noted that in dermatology, the term "cellulite" is a deep inflammatory lesion of the skin and subcutaneous tissue, most often localized in the lower extremities, but sometimes developing on other body areas. Signs of this disease are skin redness (erythema), tissue swelling, pain. In cosmetology, the same term is also used (albeit incorrectly) to refer to a natural feature inherent in the female body. More precise terms: liposclerosis, localized hydrolipodystrophy. Therefore, if a dermatologist recommends that you treat cellulite, this should be dealt with urgently.

Liposuction can get rid of cellulite once and for all. Liposuction can help get rid of fat, but this surgery will not get rid of cellulite. Although by removing most of the fat cells, the remaining adipocytes will not be able to reproduce the same volume of adipose tissue, liposuction does not guarantee that cellulite will not develop in adjacent areas.
