Time management

Modern life is filled with events, managers simply need to manage to do several important things and meetings during the day. Someone does not have enough time for personal life, for rest.

These problems are today designed to solve numerous courses, seminars, textbooks on time management, which teach to correctly and rationally plan both one day and a time period.

However, despite the need for such an organization, many do not at all perceive the methods of time planning, endowing them with myths and false signs. Let's try to figure them out.

It is possible to learn how to manage time. These are just beautiful words used to denote a technique, the main thing is still managing oneself. It is often easier for a person to control others than to control themselves. After all, yourself, your beloved, you just want to give indulgence, forgive mistakes, write off flaws on external factors. Therefore, in order to properly organize your schedule and learn, in principle, to plan your time, you need high self-discipline and self-motivation.

To be able to do everything, you just need a little more diligence. It would seem a paradox, because many people work with great diligence, but, nevertheless, they still remain constantly busy, while the number of cases does not decrease at all. In fact, the amount of effort involved has little effect on the number of tasks performed. If you just take on a bunch of tasks, then it will be difficult, but if you organize all the cases and focus on the most important first, then it will be much easier to solve matters.

The planning itself is time consuming. Many people complain that precious time is wasted in the planning itself. However, the situation can be compared to an accident when a pipe is broken. In such a situation, you can focus on continuously scooping up water, or you can temporarily leave this activity and shut off the pipes first. In planning, the most important thing is to see which tasks are important and which ones you can not do at all. With a minimal investment of time, time management can free up much more - it's worth spending 15 minutes in the evening to analyze the past day and 15 minutes in the morning to clarify future plans and one and a half to two hours of free time in our pockets.

Time management involves strict planning of the day. Usually, people think that organizing their own time means scheduling all their actions in hours and minutes, followed by a rigid implementation of them in accordance with a plan. Although it must be assumed that such strict planning is not required in most cases. Although planning itself is an important part of time management, this does not indicate the need to rigidly schedule the whole day. Time management provides for flexible planning techniques, during which a list of what needs to be done in a day is outlined, but the time for doing things and their order is already calculated based on the current situation. Thus, at the current moment in time, a person himself can flexibly use his schedule without breaking it, but only changing the sequence of events.

Time management is intended for orderly people who love logic, but not at all for creative spontaneous personalities. Time management is needed for different types of people, although it is difficult to say how long it will take to write a new chapter in a book or develop a new structure or design. Although the work is creative, this does not mean that it can be left to chance. After all, there remain important business meetings with customers to establish the timing and cost of work. Nobody wants to put creative people in a time frame with classic tight planning time management. For such people, special methods are used that take into account all the specifics. So, the time frame can be extended by setting tasks not for a short period of time of 1-2 hours, but for a longer one. In the same interval, you can set other tasks so that a creative person, seeing that he is entering a dead end in one of the directions, can switch to something else and complete another task on time.

Time management is too difficult for the average person. Usually, people try to apply their time management skills from fleeting press reports. This leads to the fact that a person devotes too much time directly to planning, rigidly introducing it into his life. And there is no time left for personal life and rest. This scheduling of time quickly turns into frustration. Time management really gets difficult if it's done the wrong way. Therefore, a thorough approach to planning, using it in the right way, will allow you to achieve results with a little effort. Time management says that difficulties arise when trying to take on a lot of things, but if you choose the right tasks, everything becomes much easier.

Time management kills the naturalness in life, its spontaneity. One often hears thoughts that the planning of actions is unnatural spontaneity and chaos of life, which is its charm. The organization of time is considered an attempt to mechanize life processes. In fact, time management is quite flexible, allowing everyone to personally determine the planned nature of their life and its spontaneity. Usually there are times when organization and planning is needed, and there are times when you can lower the bar of control and plunge into the unpredictability of life.

A scheduler is needed to manage time. Many rely on external tools to resolve this issue, relying on diaries, electronic time management tools. However, the very fact of such an assistant will not bring you one step closer to organizing your own time. As soon as the decision is ripe in my head to do this, you should start without waiting for a gift in the form of a diary for the holiday. Let the usual notebook become such a tool here and now. Over time, you yourself will select the necessary and effective tool for solving problems.

You must strictly follow the compiled to-do list. This list is also called to-do-list. In fact, this is a routine reminder of what else needs to be done. This list never ends, it grows constantly day by day. Essentially, it represents random intentions. But in case of unforeseen events in life, the list immediately becomes irrelevant, we become insecure, as we used to rely on to-do-list. It may even seem that such a "failure" indicates the ineffective work of time management, which does not take into account the chaotic nature of life. In fact, time management teaches flexibility, which you can learn about in specialized seminars. The to-do list is just an assistant, not the main tool for planning and managing time.

There should be a separate to-do list for work, and a separate to-do list for home and personal. Time management teaches that the list should be consistent in principle. After all, you are one person with one whole life, in which there is a place for different things, even if at the same time. So keep a single list of work, personal and household affairs.

The more tasks you include in the list, the more you will be able to accomplish them. This is a common novice planning mistake. If you are physically unable to accomplish all these tasks, then no amount of self-organization will help. On a subconscious level, you will realize that such a number of plans is simply unrealistic, you will subconsciously push them aside, resist their implementation.

To better plan your time, you should use multitasking. The habit of doing several things at once is quite promising, but it is still dangerous. Dispersal of energy and focus on secondary tasks can be a problem. Therefore, sometimes it is still worth focusing on the most important, leaving other tasks outside the scope of attention.

Calls and uninvited visitors take the most time. Indeed, unnecessary calls, uninvited visitors are the thieves of our time, but you should still remember that the main thieves are ourselves. It is we ourselves who are the main enemies, who prevent us from saying “no” when necessary, prevent us from giving up some of the authority and control. Failures baffle us, forcing us to retreat, it is we ourselves who postpone difficult tasks "for later", we are lazy, distracted, and so on. Having defeated this inner enemy, the outer ones will not be so scary.

Time is money. This formula is classic, but you need to understand that time is much more valuable than some money, because time is life itself. Who among us knows how much is given to him? We have many ways to make more money, but there are no opportunities to buy more time in the magic shop. Let's really appreciate it!
