And on a cold winter day, and in the summer heat, we want to feel comfortable. For this, it is very important to choose the right clothes for walking and traveling. Thermal underwear, which has recently appeared on the markets, but has managed to win the love and respect of many athletes and ordinary people who love outdoor activities, can give us a pleasant feeling of warmth and dryness in any weather.

People who want to buy a set of thermal underwear have many questions: how much does it warm? How to wash? Will it get wet? How to choose the size? And rumors, myths and misconceptions about this type of lingerie give rise to a lot of fears in the soul of a potential buyer. We will try to debunk some myths and dispel doubts, at the same time answering some questions about the functions of thermal underwear.

Thermal underwear warms. This is not entirely true. The main task of thermal underwear (underwear made of synthetic (sometimes with the addition of natural) fibers) is to drain the moisture generated on it from the body and protect it from water entering from outside. It is due to the minimal absorbency that thermal underwear provides comfort for a fairly long period of time, for example, when playing sports.

Thermal underwear is made only from synthetic materials. Not necessary. For the manufacture of thermal underwear, polyester (lavsan), polypropylene, wool, cotton or their combination are used. It doesn't matter what fabric the thermal underwear is made of - its properties remain unchanged. Indeed, all types of thermal underwear are capable of wicking moisture away from the body, but to varying degrees. It should be remembered that, for example, underwear made from synthetic materials (especially from modified polypropylene) is the most functional and durable. Linen with the addition of cotton or wool is more pleasant for the body, but its absorbency is slightly higher.

Thermal underwear - clothing exclusively for athletes. Thermal underwear can be designed both for outdoor sports and for everyday wear. It should be noted that underwear for extreme and water sports, designed for a long time to ensure the removal of moisture from the body and to protect a person from water coming from outside, is made only of synthetic materials. Thermal underwear for skiers and snowboarders contains additions of wool and cotton. It retains its moisture-wicking properties for three to eight hours. Finally, thermal underwear for everyday wear is made from wool and cotton to provide maximum comfort and convenience.

The warmest thermal underwear is made from the thickest fabric. After all, there can be a rather thick fabric, the threads of which are not tightly intertwined. Therefore, when choosing warm thermal underwear, it is best to pay attention to the specific gravity of the fabric. The warmest is not only the thickest, but also the heaviest.

Wet thermal underwear dries for a long time. This is not true. Even if your laundry is slightly wet at peak times, it will dry on its own after a few minutes. Therefore, for example, during a hike, thermal underwear does not need drying, since it has minimal (and made of polypropylene - practically zero) absorbency and simply does not retain moisture.

Thermal underwear is exclusively winter clothing. Misconception. After all, the main property of thermal underwear - the removal of moisture from the body - becomes especially relevant in the summer heat. You just have to choose underwear made from fine fabrics, best of all synthetic or with a minimal addition of cotton.

Fitted thermal underwear will "squeeze", so it is best to buy a thing one or two sizes larger. Due to the fact that the fabric contains elastic fibers, the effect of squeezing is practically excluded. You should not buy too loose thermal underwear, as in this case it will not be able to perform its functions.

There are no seams on the seamless thermal underwear. Indeed, such thermal underwear does not have side seams and seams on the sleeves. But there are still seams at the place where the sleeve is attached to the main part of the product.

Thermal underwear care is extremely simple. Yes, but some rules still have to be followed. For example, polypropylene linen cannot be boiled (this material, heated to a temperature of +60 degrees Celsius, loses its properties), ironing, drying on a radiator, over a fire or in a dryer. Also, do not treat such linen with solvents or dry clean. It is best to wash thermal underwear in warm water (not higher than +40 degrees Celsius) manually or in a washing machine, choosing the "gentle" mode, and add an antistatic agent to the rinse aid and rinse the product thoroughly. Do not wring out the thermal underwear - you just need to let the water drain.

During the washing process, the antibacterial coating of the thermal underwear can be destroyed. In fact, it all depends on the processing technology that provides an antibacterial effect. For example, if X-Static threads (nylon threads covered with a layer of metallic silver) are woven into the linen fabric, then in the process of many washes the bactericidal effect not only does not disappear, but also increases (as new active silver ions appear). In addition, since the thermal conductivity of silver is quite high, such fabric perfectly removes excess heat from the body.

The more expensive the better. The price of sets of thermal underwear with the same characteristics for firms of different degrees of "promotion" can differ almost twofold. In addition, the price depends on the policy of the company.
