Teacher is a profession and position in the system of primary and secondary general education, which arose as a result of the separation of the latter into a special social function, consisting in teaching students. Individual teachers (with a few exceptions in primary school and in some cases) teach different subjects.
Such as: Russian (as the state language throughout the Russian Federation) and literature, native language, mathematics (including algebra and geometry in middle and high schools), foreign language (there may be several of them), computer science, information technology, history , social studies (civics), economics, the world around us, geography, biology, ecology, chemistry, physics, material technologies, drawing, fine arts, music, world artistic culture (MHC), basics of life safety (life safety), physical culture, local history ( in Moscow, for example: Moscow studies) and other various subjects (rhetoric, history of religions, philosophy, choreography, etc.). It is also the responsibility of the teacher to maintain discipline and organization of students.
The teacher is "God in the lesson". Very often, students, especially in the lower grades, personify the teacher with a certain divine being. Allegedly, he is not an ordinary person, but from another planet. And he eats not worldly food, but the holy spirit, knowledge alone. In fact, the teacher is just as simple a person as everyone else. It is far from perfect - there are both disadvantages and advantages. He just plays the role of a teacher in the classroom.
The teacher thoroughly understands his subject, he knows everything. The 19th century marked the beginning of this myth. She attributed the role of know-it-alls to the noble governors. Perhaps it was true then. In Soviet schools, the status of a teacher who was deeply versed in his subject was also practiced. At the moment, there is so much information on each discipline that no one person can know everything. The teacher is no exception. The teacher is also a person, he may be mistaken in something, overlook some detail. In addition, teachers are different - some did not study well at the pedagogical institute, therefore they are poorly versed in their subject.
Teacher is a female profession. There is a widespread rumor among the population of the country that the teacher is a typical female profession. Nothing like this! Let more women teach at school. But in technical disciplines: mathematics, physics, physical education and works - the best male teachers. Moreover, only a teacher, not a teacher, can cope with difficult students and bring discipline in the classroom.
The teacher belongs to a socially disadvantaged class. This myth was invented by journalists and disseminated on television, radio and in the media. Teachers are not paid very high salaries, but at the level of the middle class. And, of course, more than the subsistence level established in the regions. Plus, they have a lot of benefits - a vacation of 56 working days, a sanatorium, vouchers to camps for their children.
The teacher knows best. This opinion has been established since Soviet times. It's not good to argue with a teacher, he knows better, because he is a professional. Nobody can know everything. Therefore, in the case of a firm conviction in one's opinion, it must be proved and clearly argued. Even a teacher can be delusional. If we compare with the schools of the West, then there the student can boldly express his point of view. This is not considered bad manners. Today, in our schools, the student also began to defend his opinion in the lesson.
The teacher is a dictator, likes to point out. Accustomed to commanding students, he transfers this manner of communication to the family and team. There are some representatives from the teaching contingent who love to command both at school and at home. Nevertheless, this is not a general trend in Russian schools, but a specific feature of an individual who can be both a teacher and a representative of other professions.
The teacher teaches the same thing from year to year, since the curriculum does not change. The curriculum is currently undergoing significant changes. From year to year, the recommendation programs of the Ministry of Education are reissued. This is especially related to the humanities - literature, rhetoric, social studies. Even taking into account the different curriculum in classes from the same parallel, the teacher has to tell differently in the classroom.
The teacher can force students to learn a subject only by supervising homework. This method is not universal. In addition, it is destructive in all respects - students can copy homework from their comrades, which fosters in them the ability to lie and does not contribute to the acquisition of knowledge. Basically, teachers try to get them to learn the subject, arousing the interest of the students. For example, showing experiences, making lyrical digressions, conducting quizzes.
The teacher always evaluates the student subjectively. This is what students say when they are offended by the teacher, thinking that they have been unfairly underestimated. And yet, in any case, the teacher evaluates the knowledge that the student showed in the test. If the teacher sees that the student is trying and teaching his subject, then as a bonus, in advance, you can overestimate his grade.
The teacher holds a parents' meeting just to collect money from parents for the needs of the school. At parent-teacher meetings, issues related to children are discussed - academic performance, behavior, activities that will take place in the class. The issue of raising money for the needs of the school is also being raised. Although he is not the primary reason for parenting meetings.
