Thai massage

Thai massage is a special direction of massage that emphasizes acupressure and is practiced in Thailand.

The art of classical Thai massage was formed under the influence of the ancient culture of China and India and acquired its present form through long practice, observing the nature of the human body, by trial and error, creating a clear system of healing therapy.

Thai massage is an indecent activity. In our country, there is a stereotype according to which Thai massage is, in fact, sexual entertainment. However, this is not the case in Thailand. This wellness massage has existed for 2.5 thousand years, and in the form of an erotic game - only about half a century. This interpretation was needed to entertain the American military, and later tourists. Different procedures have the same name, which leads to confusion. An ancient medical procedure, "nuad massage" implies the stay of both the masseur and the patient in clothes, but a more "indecent" option - "body massage" is done with a naked body. However, in addition to external differences, there are also internal ones. The Buddha's personal physician is considered the founder of true Thai massage. Until recently, Europeans generally knew little about this type of healing, because it was cultivated in monasteries, and its carriers were Buddhist monks and imperial doctors who studied there and then. But 100-150 years ago the situation changed, and secular doctors were admitted to knowledge. However, training in Thai massage is still carried out in the monastery, and you must first master yoga and acquire primary massage skills from a master. Only a teacher can give a recommendation for the further development of ancient techniques. The training lasts from 5 to 7 years, which is comparable to the duration of medical training in Europe. Real Thai massage is a serious medical procedure with a preventive purpose, it does not contain indecent moments.

Thai massage is popular all over the world. Thai massage is actively practiced in Thailand and is based on acupressure. The ancient culture of India and China has had a great impact on the formation of the art of classical Thai massage. The wellness therapy system, developed over many centuries, is now receiving widespread recognition. To create it, it took many years of practice, during which there was an active observation of the nature of the human body.

The history of Thai massage dates back to antiquity. Dr. Shivak is recognized as the founder of Thai massage. He was the personal physician of the king of India who ruled more than two millennia ago. For therapeutic purposes, Thai massage has been closely associated with traditional Thai medicine throughout its history. Only in 1277 was the beginning of the Thai literacy, until that moment the art of Thai massage was transmitted through individual training. Thus, the ancient masters of Thai massage passed on their knowledge to the next generation. In 1832, the first university in Thailand was opened at the Wat Pho monastery. The walls of the temple were replete with all sorts of diagrams of the lines of effects on the human body, 60 marble slabs added the necessary additional images. At the same time, 80 statues were placed on the territory of Wat Pho. They depicted various yoga poses and stretching. Of these 80 statues, 26 are still on the territory of the monastery. In the period from 1870 to 1906, by order of King Rama V, texts on yoga, Thai massage and Thai traditional medicine were rewritten.

There are several types of Thai massage. There are two main types of this massage. The first type is general Thai massage. This direction is often used for training and, of course, in practice. Close contact with the patient is a feature of general Thai massage and its subtypes. The massage is carried out with the surface of the palm and its base, with the thumbs. A general Thai massage is impossible without the participation of the forearms, the outer part of the wrists, as well as the feet and knees. The second type is royal Thai massage. This is a more sophisticated version of Thai massage. Here are its features. Firstly, massage is carried out only with the help of the working surface of the hands. Secondly, the person being massaged lies only on the back. In this case, the massage therapist moves on his knees at a distance of one foot from the patient's body. The main massage tool is the thumbs. Thus, the masseur hardly touches the body of the person being massaged. The initial stage of the massage is knee massage, then the masseur moves up the legs, and only after that the feet are massaged.

The state of the person being massaged is an important point in Thai massage. A relaxed, calm state should be characteristic of both the person receiving the massage and the person performing it. The massage should be the only thing the masseur thinks about. Any discomfort of the massaged person should immediately become known to the masseur, the atmosphere of trust between these two persons is simply necessary; moreover, the entire massage procedure is carried out in accordance with the breathing of both persons acting in it. The massage therapist must take the greatest care to ensure smooth transitions from one acupressure point to another. Thai massage is impossible without certain ethics. The preparation prior to the Thai massage is extremely important. The massage therapist should be in excellent physical shape, in a good mood, no extraneous thoughts should distract him from the massage procedure, his clothes should not hinder his movements. The person being massaged should also have comfortable clothes. A high quality mattress and floor is also an important element in achieving maximum Thai massage performance. A pleasant and calm environment is also essential.

Thai massage is effective. It helps to relieve puffiness and improve blood circulation, remove toxins from the body, improve skin condition, nervous system activity, relieve tension and relax tendons. Thai massage makes breathing more deep and relaxed, massage of the stomach area improves the elasticity of the digestive tract and prevents indigestion.

Thai massage has no contraindications. This is not true. Thai massage is contraindicated in case of drug or alcohol intoxication, infectious skin disease, damage to joints and muscles (a certain area is not massaged), muscle inflammation, heat and some other cases. Precautions should be taken for diabetes and mild heart disease. If the patient is very full, then the massage therapist should not act on the abdominal region, and also avoid some positions, but if the patient is hungry, then before the massage, you need to eat a little and easily. The person being massaged should remember that the massage therapist is not a doctor, and the massage therapist should not create discomfort in the person being massaged.
