Veganism

Veganism is a strict form of vegetarianism, which consists in the rejection of products that are associated with the exploitation of animals. People confuse this trend with either a raw food diet, or even with vegetarianism.

Veganism is the same as vegetarianism or raw food diet. Vegetarianism initially meant the rejection of meat and meat food, but there was no strict classification. As a result, some fans ate what others considered unacceptable. Watson singled out a new class, in which he clearly described that vegans not only do not eat meat, but also refuse animal products, including clothing. Raw-foodists have gone even further - for them heat treatment of any food is unacceptable.

Veganism is just a fashion statement. Part of this statement is indeed true. Many young people try themselves, looking for their way of life. At some point, they may become vegans or raw foodists and then fall in love with exotic cheeses. But most vegans come to their views for ideological reasons. This worldview is based on the attitude to animals as to creatures that are essentially equal to humans. As a result, vegans refuse not only meat, but also honey, eggs, and dairy products. These people consider it unworthy to eat what is obtained through the exploitation of animals.

Vegans are such a sect. Veganism has nothing to do with religion, therefore it cannot be called a sect. This strict form of vegetarianism is a peculiar way of life in which people consciously choose their diet. Basically, vegans are no different from other people. Among them there are Christians, and Hindus, atheists and fans of esotericism. It is true that such oriental practices as qigong, yoga, reiki are very popular among vegans, but in this case it has nothing to do with sectarianism.

Vegans do not get enough nutrients from food, so they are mentally and physically disabled. But doctors do not have a clear opinion on this matter. In our country, recently, science has fully admitted vegetarianism in a moderate form, with the use of eggs and milk. The attitude towards veganism is usually negative. But in the textbook on biochemistry for students of the Medical Academy. IM Sechenov stated that with a carefully selected vegan diet, it is quite possible to provide the required set of amino acids. The usefulness of such nutrition is evidenced by the fact that there are famous athletes among vegans. You can recall at least the names of Mike Tyson and Mack Danzig, yachtsman Fedor Konyukhov, athlete Carl Lewis and legendary bodybuilders Jack La Lanna and Bill Pearl. And among the scientific geniuses there were many people who refused to eat animals - Einstein, Leonardo da Vinci, Tolstoy, Schopenhauer, Wagner.

All vegans are bitter psychopaths. It is believed that vegans are literally extremists, splashing out the lack of substances in the body and demonstrating their beliefs. They smash fur shops and paint women in fur coats. But only a few radical organizations behave this way, for example, the Animal Liberation Front. But who said that vegans are required to belong to any organization? Most of them are ordinary people who do not impose their values ​​on anyone at all. Likewise, it is wrong to think that meat eaters are meaner than vegans. People are different, they have their own psyche and outlook on life.

In the harsh Russian climate, veganism is basically impossible. In India, where it is very warm, veganism is the norm. But for Russia, as many believe, such a regime is impossible. It is quite cold here and the body needs good nutrition, which cannot be formed from potatoes and cabbage. Yes and no we have a constant abundance of vegetables and fruits, which is present in the southern regions. But to mitigate such factors, vegans are trying to lead a healthy lifestyle. This consists in more active hardening than meat eaters do, in winter swimming. And the very poor choice of fruits and vegetables is another myth. Today the stores already have a large selection of fruits and vegetables from other countries. True, many vegans also adhere to the view that you should eat only local products. They should grow near the place where the person lives. Vegans allow themselves to eat not only fruits and vegetables, but also sprouted grains, wild herbs. It can be willow, plantain, dandelion, down to the nectar of flowers.

Vegans have a very short menu list. In the event that the vegan is not inclined towards raw food or the use of exclusively local products, then the menu can be varied. It includes a lot of what lies on the shelves of supermarkets, but does not attract the majority. Beans, cereals, seasonings, sprouts, and herbs will be a vegan find. What looks like a side dish to many meat-eaters is, to vegans, a stand-alone dish to experiment with. Some people like liver pâté, and vegan substitutes hummus or guacamole. Borscht can be replaced with Indian dal, and pilaf and paella can be substituted with saffron rice with lemongrass and coconut milk, spaghetti with mushrooms, basil and asparagus. Sounds so delicious that it is worth trying to become a vegan for at least a day for these dishes.

Veganism is for stingy people who save on everything. This hobby cannot be considered as beneficial. The myth was born on the basis that vegetables and fruits are really cheaper than meat, being at the price of ordinary fish. If you think so, then the savings can be serious. Only for the sake of the balance of substances vegans have to eat more expensive vegetables, fruits and nuts than everyone else, here it is worth adding greens with dried fruits. Chocolate also has to be consumed not cheap - bitter, high in cocoa beans. To be a vegan, you will have to purchase expensive products like soy milk or coconut milk. Otherwise, the required set of amino acids cannot be obtained. The ultimate health-conscious vegan's grocery basket isn't cheap.

Vegan food is healthier. A vegan diet actually makes people healthier in general. In particular, there is much less cholesterol in the body, which ensures a healthy heart and blood vessels. Back in the 1920s, scientists discovered that blood pressure in vegetarians was not so dramatic. Vegan diets help control diabetes, and the cancer death rate in this group is lower than that of meat eaters. Vegans rarely develop kidney or bladder stones. Avoiding animal protein prevents osteoporosis. In countries where plant foods are held in high esteem, cases of this disease are rare, in contrast to pronounced consumers of dairy products.

It's easy to become a vegan. It just seems like you can go vegan overnight by simply giving up a number of foods. First of all, the diet must be planned, to understand what vitamins and minerals will be lacking and what they should be replaced with. For example, iron is found in grains, legumes, and vegetables, but calcium can be obtained from green leafy vegetables, beans, and nuts. Vitamin B12 is very important, which is found in nutritional yeast, multivitamins, fortified soy milk. But how much fun it will be to re-plan the menu and discover new recipes!

Vegan diets are low in calcium. Calcium is very important for the human body - almost all of it is collected in bones and teeth. This element is involved in blood circulation and muscle function. The human body is constantly losing calcium, including through protein diets. But there are many plant foods that are also rich in calcium. You should not assume that a person cannot live without milk - some peoples generally do not consume products on such a basis.

You can't live without eating eggs. Many people do without eggs altogether. Most of their calorie content is fat, moreover, in a saturated form. Eggs are also a rich source of cholesterol. How important are eggs in general? Usually they are part of the dish and can simply be eliminated then. Instead, moisture can be compensated for with a couple of tablespoons of water. There are many plant-based egg substitutes - a teaspoon of flaxseed, a tablespoon of soy flour or cornstarch, diluted in water. For muffins or cookies, use half a mashed banana.

A vegan diet is not suitable for pregnant women. During pregnancy, the body really needs more nutrients, namely calcium, protein, folic acid. But the calorie content of food should not especially increase. During this period, you can follow a vegan diet, you just need to choose foods that are rich in nutrients. A plant-based diet is generally able to provide a healthy diet. It is generally better to start eating a healthy meal before pregnancy. Then the body will stock up on the necessary elements for the future development of the fetus. To get the right amount of calcium, you need to eat green leafy vegetables, legumes, figs, seeds, sesame seed paste, enriched with soy milk. Vitamin D will come from sunlight or multivitamins. He eats in soy or rice milk. But vitamin B12 is not found in most plant foods. To get the right amount of it, it is worth introducing vitamin-fortified foods into the diet. These can be cereal muesli, soy, and nutritional yeast. It will not be difficult to find iron in plant-based diets. In particular, it is found in beans, legumes, dried fruits. In the second half of pregnancy, women should generally take supplements with the addition of this trace element, regardless of the chosen diet. But the need for protein increases during pregnancy by 30%. But it turns out that even this does not intimidate vegan women who can get it in the right amount through legumes, whole grains, nuts, seeds and vegetables.

A vegan diet is not suitable for children. In fact, it is possible from an early age to form a habit of healthy and healthy eating in a person. For newborns, the best food is breast milk, it's hard to argue with that. But if it is not there, then a commercial product based on soy milk will be a good substitute. You cannot give it directly, since baby products are still made with special needs in mind. Babies, especially dark-skinned babies, may lack vitamin D. It can be replenished with supplements, the same soy formula. At the age of six months, you can start using complementary foods. Doctors recommend giving cereals fortified with iron. Rice porridge is less risky than others for allergic reactions. By the age of 8 months, the baby can be given pureed vegetables. It can be potatoes, carrots, peas. Then you can include fruits in the diet - bananas, avocados, peaches, applesauce. As a child, toddlers need high-calorie and nutrient-dense foods. It may well be provided by a vegan diet, which has several types developed for such a tender age.

Vegan food is boring. Those who think that vegans eat one potato and a carrot are mistaken. There are many recipes for unusual, tasty and healthy dishes. You can make pancakes from buckwheat flour and bananas, a chopped mixture of vegetables will do for making enchiladas, you can make various vegetable soups, salads and even cookies.

Vegans are deficient in vitamin B12. This popular myth prevented many vegetarians from abandoning animal protein. In fact, the problem of lack of vitamin B12 still exists. Its deficiency is manifested in increased fatigue, weight loss, and digestive disorders. But the reason is not at all in the choice of diet. Vegans don't need to take special supplements or rely on nutritional yeast. It is a myth that the only source of B12 is from animal products. The doctors concluded that the deficiency of this vitamin is a symptom of a problem that has to do with vitamin deficiency. And it cannot be solved simply by taking additional substances. Indeed, in such a situation, the body is no longer able to receive nutrients from food. It turns out that the lack of vitamin B12 is related to digestive disorders. Vegans simply need to be careful about their diet and include plenty of nuts, raw foods, grains, and fruits. And eating meat in itself cannot solve the problem of vitamin B12 deficiency.

Vegans are hypocrites, feeding on plants that hurt as much as animals. In most plants, vegans eat the fruit, leaving it unharmed. And the plants themselves are clearly a different form of life from animals and humans, without a nervous system with the painful sensations it generates. Animal husbandry also harms plants in itself, because of it nature is polluted and forests are cut down.

There are already many problems in society, people have no time for animals. Cruelty to animals and shows the true moral level of man. We can say that all our problems - crimes, wars, inequality, are based on the right of the strong to rule over the weak. The most deprived of rights are animals that have turned into a product. Having managed to love them, we can love ourselves.
